TMX Group today announced its financing activity on Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSX-V) for August 2011. Here are some of the highlights:

• Year-to-date financing activity on both Exchanges continued to exceed 2010 levels in the number of new issuers listed, number of IPOs and total financings raised.
• TSX welcomed 9 new issuers, 5 of which were from the mining sector.  This was down from 10 new issuers in August 2010 and 16 in July 2011. Total financings raised in August 2011 were up 17% over the previous month and 24% compared to August 2010.
• TSX-V welcomed 25 new issuers, 14 of which were from the mining sector. This was up from 11 new listings in August 2010. Total financings were down 13% compared to the previous month and up 32% compared to August 2010.
